Of the 10.1 million boys and girls between 5 and 17 years-old, the Education Cluster estimates that 8.1 million need assistance and nearly 2.9 million are in acute need.
More than 2,500 schools in Yemen have been destroyed, damaged, or used for non-educational purposes — affecting 1.1 million children’s ability to learn.
Yemen Aid is currently on the ground, working to ensure that 5,000 school-aged children have equal access to educational services by providing learning kits that include book, bags with essentials (notebooks, pens, pencils, eraser, ruler, etc.)
Access to education protects children from exploitation.
Yemen Aid is also working towards the rehabilitation of schools, along with building 30 new classrooms in areas where youth are unable to pursue an education. This will ensure that 3,600 students have equal access to educational services.
The children of Yemen who are unable to safely pursue their education are trapped in a self-perpetuating cycle of poverty.
